Our Christmas 2008 ...

So, I don't normally "blog" on here. I usually just use this to keep everyone updated with pictures. But, I thought I would share just a little bit of our wonderful Christmas this year. It started early this year going to my grandpa's (the kid's great-grandpa's) house the first weekend this month. It was great to see all of my mom's family. I always feel so relaxed and at home when I am with the Beardens - very happy to spend time with all of them. Then Tim's parents came up for the weekend mid-month. We had a great time with them too. They stayed with us - it was the weekend we moved so they were a big help - they always are with the kids. They love to be with them. That is when Abby got most of the ornaments for her new pink tree - she was beyond thrilled. Christmas Eve night we always go to my dad's for our German dinner - Rouladen, potato balls and red cabbage - YUMMO! This is my favorite meal of the year (as well as my brother's). My step-mom is a wonderful cook, everything she makes is super yummy, but this one just makes everyone happy. It was also great to see their friends - Harry and Joan (who makes fabulous petit fors - that she will have to show me one day soon!). We all ate and opened presents with the kids - Abby just loves spending time with her cousins, Lexi and Charlotte. They always have a good time. (of course Parker pitched a fit and vomited on himself - which is why he is shirtless in most of his pics)

Now - onto Christmas morning. (oh wait - thank God for my brother - the ever fixing man in my life) Jason came over late Christmas Eve to save Christmas morning for us and helped Tim put toys together. So, now Christmas morning - the boys wake up first. We bring them in to wake up Abby. We all go into the living room together, Abby is so excited she is running down the hall. She came to a complete stop when all she saw was the train table. All joy fell from her face. She was crushed. And then so was I. I have never seen such a look of sadness on her face - nor do I ever want to again. She completely missed what Santa had left for her and all she saw was this massive train table. So - I pulled myself together (never shedding a tear - although I wanted to) and said, "Abby look what Santa brought for you" while pointing at all she asked for - a pony and an ice cream truck. She was elated, now that was the face I was hoping to see on Christmas morning. She was excited that Santa "broughted all I ever wanted"!!!! Yay!!! Nothing better! Then it was off to the Bergerson's for Abby and I - we ALWAYS have a great time there! Oh and wait, what did Abby play with most of the day??? You got it - the train table!!!! :)

We had a wonderful Christmas and hope you all did too! Here's to a happy, healthy and safe 2009!
